What’s the difference?

A private cloud is your infrastructure or systems made available for use across the internet. If you are able to connect from your home to work, then you have a private cloud. We can provide advice on how to get the most out of this resource, and are situated to offer co-location services for your infrastructure in our own data centre.

We also offer clients the use of our infrastructure for their systems. As such a shared private cloud service is much the same as public services, but the systems and applications you use, are hosted and supported by us.

Public cloud services are really about leveraging computing power available from cloud providers like Amazon, Microsoft, Google, and Bekkers. This is essentially shared infrastructure that is on sold as a service. Typical advantages include only paying for what you use, and scalability without massive capital expenditure.

Hybrid cloud computing is as it sounds, a mix of privately run infrastructure and public service providers. Reasons for such arrangements include load balancing, plus-one data storage, or segmenting out customer facing services such as websites and business to business middleware. Some clients co-locate their private infrastructure within our data centre, and then also incorporate other cloud services for redundancy. This leaves their premises completely free from the encumbrance of server rooms.
